Our ‘Dream’ Team
Layne McDougal | Owner & Founder
Dream Drives began in 2021 with a single, meaningful moment.
As Layne McDougal’s son prepared for his wedding day, he envisioned departing his reception in a classic getaway car. In search of something timeless, elegant, and worthy of such a special occasion, Layne purchased a 1951 Packard Convertible affectionately named Ruby.
What began as a mother’s desire to help make her son’s wedding unforgettable soon grew into Dream Drives.
Following Ruby’s debut, the collection quickly expanded. In 2022, Audrey, a 1942 Packard Clipper, and Catherine, a 1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, joined the fleet. The story came full circle in July 2023 with the arrival of Charlotte, an all-white 1961 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II whose refined elegance completed the Dream Drives collection.
Each automobile was carefully selected for its beauty, history, exceptional condition, and unmistakable presence. Since 2021, Dream Drives has had the privilege of serving more than 500 weddings and special events throughout Central Alabama.
In 2026, Layne made the exciting—albeit bittersweet—decision to scale back the Dream Drives fleet. After welcoming two beautiful grandchildren and choosing to devote more time to family, she began envisioning a new chapter—one that would allow her to continue serving the wedding industry she loves while creating more opportunities for family, travel, and life’s simple joys.
As part of this transition, Audrey was retired from the fleet on July 1, 2026. Ruby will retire in September 2026, and Catherine at the end of 2026. Beginning January 1, 2027, Charlotte will remain as the sole Dream Drives automobile, continuing to provide elegant chauffeured transportation for weddings, photoshoots, and special events throughout the Birmingham area.
A Message from Layne:
“Each of our automobiles has been incredibly special to Dream Drives, my family, and me personally. We have cared for these vehicles not simply as automobiles, but as treasured pieces of history.
These cars represent a bygone era of craftsmanship, elegance, and grace. We feel a responsibility to preserve them, maintain them, and operate them with the utmost care and respect.
But what has always meant the most to me isn’t the cars themselves—it’s the people. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of being part of hundreds of weddings, celebrations, and milestone moments. We’ve watched fathers walk daughters down the aisle, newlyweds begin their happily ever after, and families create memories they’ll cherish for a lifetime.
For me, that’s what Dream Drives has always been about. The automobiles may be beautiful, but it’s the people and the memories they help create that make this journey so meaningful. It has truly been an honor to share these classic cars with so many wonderful families.
As Dream Drives enters this next chapter, my heart is full of gratitude—for the couples who trusted us, the families who welcomed us, and the incredible wedding professionals who became treasured friends along the way. While the fleet may be smaller, my love for this industry and the joy of serving others remain as strong as ever.”
