The Blog
Though we may be biased, Dream Drives BHM believes we have the most stunning, well-maintained classic getaway cars in and around metropolitan Birmingham. Each of our vehicles have a feminine name since they are so lovely, and these beauties are cherished by us. We ensure they’ll shine as beautiful backdrops in your wedding photographs, getaways, films, and photo shoots.
When it comes to decorating an automobile for a wedding exit, you may be of the opinion less is more. If so, you’ll be pleased that our automobiles arrive with the traditional “bow on the bonnet” only. If you prefer to add a personal touch for a little “extra” we’ve provided a few ideas.
Oftentimes, the getaway car is forgotten when decorations for a wedding are planned. We strive to inspire clients, brides, wedding planners, and florists to remember these automobiles and emphasize the significance of these final details when discussing decor. A good comparison is to think of these cars as you would an outfit. What accessories are needed to make it look its best? To add your unique touch?
With decor options we try to be helpful by offering several complimentary traditional banners. We also offer classic swags with “Just Married” or “Happily Ever After” phrases.
Other ways to accessorize our cars:
If incorporating a custom-made flower swag or garland exceeds your budget, don’t worry! We’ve got some budget-friendly alternatives to consider. It’s a great way to recycle some of the gorgeous flowers too! Keep in mind, these ideas may require the assistance of a wedding planner, friend of the bride or groom’s family or a family friend to bring it all together since the reception could be in progress when the decorations takes place.
- Utilize garland from a rehearsal dinner or reception table to adorn the bumper or the trunk of the car.
- Reuse centerpiece flowers from dining tables at the rehearsal dinner to decorate the bumper or trunk of car.
- Attach flowers, possibly the bridesmaid bouquets, to each side of our banners.
- Place or tie the bridesmaid bouquets in or on the bumper with satin ribbons, or place them inside the rear window.
Since our chauffeurs automatically arrive one hour before departure (unless an earlier time is requested) they are happy to assist with any décor placement upon request. Please keep in mind these gentlemen are fabulous, but claiming expertise in placement of decorations to look pretty is a no-go…only assistance.
With regards to car decorations, we have one rule. NO LOOSE WIRES OR ITEMS THAT COULD POTENTIALLY SCRATCH THE CARS PAINT! To prevent scratches try covering items with florist tape, duct tape the back of your item, use ribbon or cloth. Another option is to try attaching flowers or garland to a thin, flexible Styrofoam noodle to achieve the look you want, but I’d prepare this in advance.
When it comes to getaway car decorations, creativity knows no bounds! Ideas you may like are tying tin cans, streamers, ribbons, or pompoms to the bumper. Less traditional ideas may include inspiration from pop culture icons like Taylor Swift’s bracelets for banner designs. Maybe balloons? The sky’s the limit to offer your unique touch.
